We started out in 2015 as ING’s software development hub, then steadily expanded our range to include more services and competencies. Now we provide borderless services with bank-wide capabilities and 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: 𝐁𝐮𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐣-𝐍𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐜𝐚.

The Mission

The Chapter Lead’s role is to manage and develop a mature team of DevOps engineers responsible for maintaining, adding new features and monitoring IT Risk controls for one of the biggest DataLake platforms in ING.

He / She will act as Technical Product Owner for the squad and as a Coach on technical side, but also a People Manager (including performance management) and will be part of the Data Management department.

Your day to day

Even if you’ll start your day from the comfort of your home or drink your morning coffee in our office’s garden, your day will be quite similar when comes to tasks. Here are your daily responsibilities:

  • Articulate the product vision while capturing input from the stakeholders
  • Coordinate the activities and priorities of the team to meet the delivery commitments
  • Identify opportunities and provide solutions for improvement
  • Manage communication with stakeholders and act as contact person for the team
  • Provide continuous coaching and mentoring by clarifying job responsibilities, setting performance expectations through the establishment of goals and job competencies, identifying skill gaps, creating development plans and evaluating performance
  • Assess the efficiency of end-to-end operational processes by identifying and mitigating risks
  • People Management of highly talented DevOps engineers
  • Contribute to strategy and lifecycle management of Data Lake implementation
  • Collaborate closely with an international team made of Chapter Leads, Product Owners, Agile Coaches, Business Analysts, Architects, ETL DevOps engineers and Infrastructure Specialists
  • Manage IT risk work and communication with the IT risk team
  • Up to date with the latest industry standards and trends in the area of Data Management

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Experience:
    • As People Manager of a development team and strong technical background on Oracle databases and platform maintenance;
    • As Technical Product Owner of a DevOps squad responsible for platform development and maintenance;
    • With administering Linux systems;
    • With Ansible playbooks;
    • With CI / CD;
    • With vendor management;
    • With IT Risk controls, Incident Management, Security, Reliability, Disaster Recovery;
    • With Agile – Scrum methodology;
    • IT Architecture know-how is a plus;
    • In Banking industry is considered a plus.
  • Knowledge:
  • Mandatory:
    • OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server
    • CI/CD: Azure DevOpsPipelines;
    • Scripting : Ansible, Bash
    • Monitoring: Kibana-Logstash (data visualization plugin for Elastic Search), Grafana & Prometheus for server and infrastructure
    • Private Cloud Solutions
    • Oracle DB, Data Lake and Big Data know-how, ETL tooling;
  • Nice to have:
    • Kafka, GCP, Oracle APEX, Oracle DP Tunning;
    • Ability to translate functional and non-functional requirements (eg. Security, Scalability, Integration);
    • Experience with InfoSphere Information Server suite, WebSphere (installation, configuration, operations)
    • Experience with Python
    • Azure DevOps Pipelines or equivalent CI/CD pipelines ( Jenkins, GitLab etc)
    • Experience with BigData: Apache Hadoop ( Ranger, HDFS, CDP, NIFI, Hive)
    • Experience working with real time streaming
    • Experience working with IBM DataStage or other InfoSphere Information Server suite
    • Overall experience as a developer is a plus
    • Experience with automated testing tools
  • Soft skills:
    • Excellent communication and leadership skills

Foreign languages: English (advanced)

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in an IT related field
