The Mission

As an Infrastructure & Application Support Engineer in the DataLake Foundation team your primary responsability will be to deploy, configure, patch or upgrade all the ING DataLake environments, after carefully testing and automating these deployments on our internal environments.

Your day to day

Even if you’ll start your day from the comfort of your home or drink your morning coffee in our office’s garden, your day will be quite similar when comes to tasks. Here are your daily responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for providing infrastructure and application support, troubleshooting, and ensuring the smooth operation of the Data Lake, using monitoring tools and system diagnostics to identify the source of the problem.
  • You solve vulnerabilities and automate system management wherever possible. You automate your day-to-day tasks (within reasonable bounds).
  • You are also responsible for securing the system to the latest standards, able to tune the system to the required specifications and you are a great trouble shooter.
  • You install the latest features and patches on the Data Lake making use of the already-existent deployment pipelines.
  • You communicate with the stakeholders and with the external vendor and manage.
  • You manage your incidents and tasks efficiently.
  • Uptime is everything, but great performance and predictable throughput are equally important.

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Experience: more than 2 years
  • Experience working in LINUX environments (sysadmin, patching, debugging)
  • Experience with tools such as Ansible, Puppet or Chef, and automated deployment.
  • Relevant experience in Ops/DevOps (tools, techniques and concepts) – application support/infrastructure.
  • Familiar with IT Security concepts and terminology related to applications, databases, operating systems, and IT operations (patching, vulnerability scanning, backup strategy, zero-day vulnerabilities, DR exercise)
  • Strong risk based, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts (ip routing, firewall, security)
  • A desire to learn new technologies and evolve with an ever changing industry
  • Accurate in documenting and following procedures
  • Confrontable to discuss incidents/changes with stakeholders and external Vendor.
  • Some knowledge of relational databases;
  • Nice to have:
  • Some experience with administration of IBM InfoSphere suit (different versions 11.5, 11.7)
  • Some experience (using these tools) is nice to have: Monitoring Tooling like Prometheus and ElasticStack
  • Developing experience with Python, Bash.
  • Experience with Oracle, Kubernetes, Windows Server, Stepping Stones.
  • Experience using public cloud services (Azure, AWS or GCP)
  • Foreign languages: English (advanced)
  • Education: nice to have Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in an IT related field
