The Mission

ING Hubs is looking for an enthusiastic (Technical) Product Owner/Product Manager who gets their energy from developing and innovating a global portfolio of authentication and authorization access services/means and features of ING’s Global Platform, while communicating with business and IT.

These services will be used in the web and mobile applications across ING countries, serving millions of ING customers and employees around the world, by ensuring that a customer who logs into an application is the person he/she claims to be.

You will align epics between all parties in the process chain, and break down the work in prioritized stories, refine new functionalities and provide delivery plans.

The team will be working with is based in Bucharest and is one of the 7 squads that are contributing to One Gate product area, distributed between Amsterdam and Bucharest.

Within the team you will have the responsibility for setting sprint by sprint priorities and any dependencies, structuring the backlog and roadmap based on QBR planning, for stakeholder management, for requirements clarifications, as well as their delivery plans.

You will work with multi-disciplinary squads and it is key that the development and execution of the roadmap is aligned with several stakeholders (such as the business, IT, other global service providers, architects, security experts, designers and up and downstream squads in the value chain) you need to manage for new onboardings and integrations, new feature requirements, demos, quarterly planning etc.

You must balance the priority of new features with the necessary work to allow for the flawless operation of a compliant service in accordance to all LCM work that must be properly planned to ensure high technical standards and running activities at product level.

Moreover, with your experience, you can develop and drive through, a practical platform vision and roadmap that is future proof, aligned with the One Gate product area vision, as well as promoting and evangelizing the product. This will be leveraged by a strong collaboration with One Gate Product Area Lead.

External to the teams, you are the go-to person for new customer adoption, and you will closely work with the Generic Means Central PO and the One Gate Product Area Lead for new requirements coming from one or multiple customers, as they must fit in the global product strategy. This will require for you to establish and maintain a close relationship not only with the Central Product Owner and the Product Area Lead, but also with consumers, security specialists, and other stakeholders.

Your day to day

Even if you’ll start your day from the comfort of your home or drink your morning coffee in our office’s garden, your day will be quite similar when comes to tasks.

Here are your daily responsibilities:

  • Understand the aspects of a global product (build once, use it multiple times) so you can facilitate the consumer usage and integration, but also business requirements to cover the new business scenarios
  • Drive the development squad by providing the purpose, context, priorities, and direction
  • Creation and prioritization of backlogs (divided into predictable epics and features)
  • Partner with the Central Product Owner and peers (representatives of other squads) to create and maintain a product backlog that aligns with the overall product area roadmap to maximize the business value
  • Design the processes and detail the specifications of the product
  • Develop requirements (written and diagrams (when appropriate)) throughout the product development in the form of Epics, Features and Stories. Facilitate refinement sessions to clarify and estimate user stories
  • Facilitate the team’s delivery by coordinating sprint activities like planning sessions, review, refinements, and demo, and protect the team and sprint against disruptions and impediments
  • Create and lead the planning of product releases, including coordination with other interdependent teams and communication with stakeholders to set the expectation for delivery of new features
  • Alignment with key stakeholders and manage the dependencies in the process chain
  • Play an active role in identifying, mitigating, and communicating impediments impacting successful completion of Release/Sprint Goals
  • Enable consumers to have a great onboarding experience, get the value from our product, and minimize roadblocks. Guide them through features and functionalities from the start until the journey is successfully completed
  • Contribute on improving the adoption of services, measure consumer experience through metrics, create and re-think the onboarding flow based on feedback.

Next to typical PO skills, we are looking for:

  •  Experience: 3-5 years of experience working as Product Owner for innovating products in a technology environment/software solution

  • Mandatory Tech stack/ knowledge:

  • IT products delivery experience (BA/PO/PM/Solution Architect)

  • Experience with REST APIs § Agile Scrum experience § Experience in financial or banking industries
  • Affinity for platform technology
  • Good presentation skills for explaining the product you represent and the ability to analyze if a feature asked for a consumer is a good candidate for all global consumers
  • Ability to define a set of requirements that pinpoint business challenges and identify technical and business changes required to address them towards the product team
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely across technology and the business teams, and bridging the gap between both
  • Excellent communication skills, pro-active and easy to approach attitude
  • A person that takes timely and informative decisions

  • Nice to have knowledge:

  • Understanding of authentication and security domain in web and mobile applications. E.g. basic knowledge of terms like 2-factor-authentication, authorization and cryptography should be familiar to you
  • Technical understanding of different levels of abstraction and systems you work with § Experience with microservices and Cloud technology
  • Backlog management from Azure Dev Ops
  • Foreign languages: English (advanced)
  • Education: nice to have Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in an IT related field.
