Role & work environment

As part of the strengthening of its Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) department, ING Luxembourg is offering a contractual internship starting as of June/July 2025 for a minimum of 6 months. Please note that we only consider students who are currently enrolled in school/university and can provide a school convention.

FCC Governance & Controls Luxembourg is the second line of defense function supporting ING Luxembourg, its underlying entities and the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Compliance Manager in managing the FCC risks.

The Governance and Controls function includes oversight of 1st line of defense AML related processes & sourced activities, the monitoring of customers’ activities as well as the investigation of complex cases regardless of the source of identification (Adverse Media Screening, Transaction Screening, Transaction Monitoring, Name Screening) and the handling of special requests (Police, FIU, etc.).

The mission of Governance and Controls team aims to identify and report on emerging threats and risks stemming from known and evolving forms of Financial Economic Crime (FEC), such as money-laundering, terrorist financing, corruption, and transnational and organized crime.

The team is working together based on knowledge and expertise, as well as the skill set needed to best perform the job.

You report hierarchically to the Head of the FCC Governance & Controls, who reports to the Head of Financial Crime Compliance, being the Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Manager of ING Luxembourg.

Key responsibilities

As an FCC Governance & Controls Intern, you take part in the execution and further development of the anti-money laundering strategy of the Bank by reviewing client’s profile and transactions and reporting unusual transactions to the team.

You may also be entrusted with additional tasks, such as:

  • Participating in the preparation of reports;
  • Providing administrative support to the FCC Governance & Controls team;
  • Monitor the queues and updating the local dashboards for ensuring adequate management of outstanding alerts and prioritization rules;
  • Helping FCC Governance & Controls team in projects, workgroups, providing input where needed;
  • Any other associated duties required from time to time to meet the team’s mission and targets.

As an FCC Governance & Controls Intern you will also need:

  • University degree at Master 1 or 2 level with a legal, economic and/or auditing orientation;
  • A first experience in Luxembourg and/or in an audit firm will be considered as an asset;
  • Practical, organized and rigorous;
  • Ability to analyze, summarize and write;
  • Good team spirit and creativity;
  • Good and effective communication skills, fluent in written and spoken English, French is considered a plus;
  • Good knowledge of current IT tools, in particular Excel, PowerPoint and Word, knowledge of other software application is a plus.
