Cluster Lead TM P&SS

Your Role & Responsibilities:

The role of the Cluster Lead is a key position within the organizational structure of TM Payments & Shared Solutions, responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of a Cluster consisting of 3-5 squads. Functionally, the position reports into the Product Area Lead TM P&SS.

The primary objective of the Cluster Lead is to act as a bridge between the Product Area Lead (PAL) and the Product Owners of the squads in the Cluster.

Key activities include:

Cluster Management: The Cluster Lead is accountable for the performance and output of the squads within their cluster. They ensure that each squad is aligned with the overall goals and objectives of the area and that they are delivering high-quality products or services. They also serve as the first point of escalation for the Product Owners.

Coordination and Communication: The Cluster Lead facilitates communication and collaboration between the squads and other stakeholders such as product owners, business analysts (BAs), the PAL, and the Engineering Area Lead. They ensure that information flows smoothly across teams, enabling efficient decision-making and problem-solving.

Hierarchical Responsibility: The Cluster Lead has a double hat as a Chapter Lead, which entails local hierarchical responsibility over other Customer Journey Experts within the area. They provide guidance, support, and mentorship to these individuals, ensuring they have the necessary resources and skills to perform their roles effectively.

Management Team Participation: The Cluster Lead is an integral part of the management team, which is chaired by the Product Area Lead. They actively contribute to strategic discussions, planning, and decision-making processes related to the product area or domain they oversee. In certain forums and meetings, the Cluster Lead may be delegated the authority of the PAL to represent the area.

Performance Evaluation and Development: The Cluster Lead assesses the performance of squads and team members within their cluster, providing feedback, coaching, and support to enhance individual and collective performance. They identify areas for improvement, address conflicts, and foster a positive and productive work environment.

Alignment with Product Strategy: The Cluster Lead ensures that the work of the squads aligns with the broader product strategy defined by the PAL and the organization. They understand the market dynamics, customer needs, and business goals, and they guide the squads to deliver products or services that meet those requirements.

Talent Acquisition and Onboarding: The Cluster Lead has a shared responsibility for the recruitment and selection process for new (business) team members within the Cluster. They work closely with the Hiring Manager (Chapter Lead), HR, and talent acquisition teams to identify the right skills and expertise required for each squad.

Overall, the Cluster Lead plays a critical role in facilitating effective collaboration, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, and driving successful product delivery within their assigned cluster.

They act as a liaison between the PAL and the squads, providing support, guidance, and leadership to achieve the desired outcomes. With the HR-related responsibilities, the Cluster Lead takes a holistic approach to managing their cluster, not only focusing on the technical and operational aspects but also caring for the well-being and growth of the individuals within their cluster.

Requirements

The ideal candidate brings:

  • Proven track record: You should have a strong delivery track record, effectively managing IT change delivery. 5+ years' experience in complex business + IT delivery environments
  • In-depth knowledge in KYC, Regulatory Tech, TM.
  • Product management experience: Demonstrated experience in product/service management and development is essential for this role.
  • Strong political acumen: To succeed in this role, you require a high level of emotional intelligence awareness of others, their interests, and what is going on around you.
  • You have a strategic mindset, capable of identifying future opportunities and translating them into concrete plans.
  • Leadership and people management experience: you will be leading 3-5 squads and (as Chapter Lead – the other hat) managing Customer Journey Experts. Experience with building an effective team with diverse skills and perspectives, providing guidance, coaching, and performance- and conflict management.
  • Collaboration and communication skills: Being a naturally collaborative person and having highly effective communication skills are essential as you'll be working closely with various stakeholders across locations.
  • Customer focus: A strong focus on building and maintaining valuable relationships with your (end) user and delivering user-centric solutions is a must.
  • Tech-savviness: You should be familiar with anticipating and leveraging innovations in technical applications, making KYC stronger and more efficient, whilst remaining effective.
  • Analytical skills: Your ability to explain complex issues in an easy-to-understand way and use strong analytical skills will be valuable in making data-driven decisions.
  • English proficiency: An excellent level of English is required for effective communication within the international environment at ING.
  • Master's Degree in a relevant field is expected for this position.
