About the position:

The Capital Markets & Advisory Early Career Track provides junior talent the opportunity to learn more about core and client facing areas of ING’s Capital Markets and Advisory (CM&A) business area. The aim of this program is to upskill talent and prepare you for future roles in our organization. During the program, you will get hands-on experience of what is involved in the day-to-day role as a junior team member in the Acquisition Finance, Debt Capital Markets, Loan Distribution, Asset Securitization and Corporate Finance teams. As a junior Analyst in the Early Career Track, you will be rotating across three to four CM&A teams. As a senior Analyst and Associate, you will then become a permanent member of a CM&A team.

We are seeking junior talent that is keen to start or progress their careers in the investment banking industry. Currently, the Analyst role will start in the Acquisition Finance group in the Americas. Acquisition Finance is a global platform that provides advice and financing to leveraged issuers backed by a range of top-tier private equity sponsors.  This position is an opportunity to execute sponsor-backed leveraged lending transactions, typically leveraged buyouts and refinancings. You will work closely with senior bankers and gain credit experience across various industries and deals, including private credit and broadly syndicated loans. You will perform a range of activities which include idea generation, pitching, credit analysis, modelling, writing credit applications, legal documentation review, and managing closing processes for new transactions, as well as certain monitoring and review tasks that come with the group’s management of its portfolio (in conjunction with our Asset Management team). The position requires a self-starter who can take the initiative to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team setting.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Engage in all aspects of underwriting, arranging and lending in order to originate leveraged finance transactions
  • Author screening memos and credit approval packages reflecting due diligence, financial modeling, and credit documentation review
  • Assemble client marketing presentations and internal presentations as needed
  • Complete LBO models, comparable companies / precedent transactions analyses, rating models and return assessments
  • Collaborate with a wide variety of other teams, ranging from sector teams to specific departments (e.g., Risk, Capital Markets, Legal) and Acquisition Finance and CM&A colleagues across the globe

Profile

Qualifications / Education:

  • Recent graduate holding a Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in Business, Economics, Finance, Advanced Mathematics or related quantitative field with excellent results

Experience / Knowledge:

  • Leveraged finance background and/or credit training not required but a plus
  • Basic understanding of GAAP accounting principles and financial statements
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • You are expected to obtain Series 7 or 79, and 63 registrations shortly after starting the role

Competencies:

  • You possess the ability to deliver with efficiency and effectiveness, often with minimal day-to-day oversight
  • You have an exceptional eye for detail
  • You demonstrate determination and dedication towards achieving your results, often under tight timelines
  • You are able to manage competing priorities and assignments
  • You take initiative and ask questions when necessary
  • You are willing to go above and beyond for the sake of the team and client’s objectives
  • Proven track record of performing at the highest levels
  • You work well as part of a team but also able to work by yourself

Salary Range: $100,000 - $110,000
