About the position:

This is a senior lending professional role within the front office. As player-coach, you will carry primary responsibility for some of the key processes related to lending transactions (with focus on Asset-Based Loans), along with guiding a team of junior bankers that execute new lending transactions and works closely with the client relationship managers and sector experts to originate new lending transactions.

Responsibilities:

  • The Transaction Management Team will be involved with every new lending transaction and will take primary responsibility for some of the key processes including:
    • Evaluate transaction opportunities and assess creditworthiness of borrowers through identification of a borrower’s key strengths, weaknesses and mitigating factors;
    • Underwrite new transactions by conducting in-depth credit analyses and performing comprehensive due diligence of borrowers seeking asset-based and other borrowing base loans;
    • Review and analyze reports such as quality of earnings, industry research, field examinations and appraisals; 
    • Prepare credit approval packages including annexes and all requisite attachments;
    • Build and create financial models with sensitivity analysis and validation of key assumptions;
    • Run internal risk rating and loan pricing models;
    • Interface with internal stakeholders (e.g. originations, capital markets, risk, etc.), loan operations, treasury and other groups within the firm to establish appropriate risk tolerance and to comply with internal policies;
    • Review legal documentation, validate key terms & conditions and make recommendations for structural enhancements;
    • Successfully close transactions and ensure completion of closing requirements
  • The Transaction Management Team will work closely with the client relationship managers and/or deal principals on origination and deal structuring activities, including:
    • Preparation of marketing materials and negotiation of terms and conditions with borrowers;
    • Preparation of greenlight/screening memos for discussion with committees (e.g. commercial, risk, etc.);
    • Recommendation and analysis of loan structures;
    • Attendance of client meetings/calls, including transaction-related due diligence
  • Ensure a consistent level of quality and policy compliance through training and development activities;
  • Enhance internal processes, suggest efficiency improvements, and track key data (pricing, structural elements, fees, etc.) and comparables;
  • Stay up-to-date on organizational operating policies and procedures (i.e. Risk, Legal, etc.) to ensure appropriate protocols are implemented and followed, and facilitate accordingly;
  • Cultivate a cohesive team environment by consistently providing guidance, mentorship and training to support and develop new and junior team members

Qualifications and Competencies:

Qualifications / Education:

BA/BS in finance/economics/accounting/management/engineering (or similar); CFA and/or MBA a plus

Experience / Knowledge:

  • 5+ years of relevant lending experience

Competencies:

  • Considerable experience executing ABL transactions.
  • Knowledge of, or high degree of interest in, any of the following industries: TMT, Real Estate, Trade & Commodity Finance, Investment Industry Finance, Infrastructure, Financial Institutions, Export Finance, Food & Agriculture, Renewables & Power and Mid and Downstream Oil and Gas
  • Expertise in corporate finance loan origination and execution;
  • Strong credit skills and understanding of debt capital markets;
  • Committed and dedicated individual who will continuously improve the way the team works;
  • Collaborative and able to work effectively across functions and regions; 
  • Strong presentation and communication skills;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities;
  • Self-motivated and willing to work in a deal oriented and deadline driven environment;
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and professional demeanor

Salary Range: $180,000 - $230,000
