ING Australia’s Wholesale Bank has a huge growth agenda for 2025, and we are currently seeking an Associate to join our new Portfolio Management function within the Lending team in Sydney.

As a key member of the PM team, you will actively manage the lending portfolio (primarily in Australia) and optimize returns through strong analytics. You are the ‘centre of excellence’ for the in-life management of ING’s lending exposure. This means covering all activities post the initial funding to the final repayment of a lending transaction. As part of the front office department, you will closely collaborate with sector-based origination & structuring colleagues, transaction management colleagues, and other product specialists to ensure a seamless client experience.

Each portfolio manager will cover a set of portfolio clients and act as the first point of contact for the ongoing credit monitoring, analytics, internal risk and other reporting.

What you’ll do

  • Management of a portfolio clients across various sectors including but not limited to energy, technology, media & telecom, healthcare, real estate, infrastructure, food, beverages & agriculture in line with the Bank’s policies and strategic objectives
  • Processing of high-quality amendment and waiver requests, preparation and submission to Risk of credit modifications, Q&A and approval processes with Risk, follow-up on the required legal amendments to the documentation until execution
  • Review of annual risk rating updates prepared by ING hubs’ administrative support teams and new rating model systems
  • Diligent and proactive credit monitoring through the review of all financial covenants and operating performance (e.g. financial models, proforma adjustments, key drivers, etc.) and track compliance of covenants prepared by an administrative support team
  • Identification and resolution of Early Warning Signals for a deterioration in credit quality where the client is not performing in line with the Bank’s expectations

What we’re looking for

  • 4+ years of relevant lending execution and/or credit analysis experience in the banking industry.
  • Prior exposure to relevant sectors
  • Bachelors’ degree with preferably major in business/economics/finance/law
  • Strong financial and credit analysis capabilities
  • Strong Excel skills with the ability to operate, maintain, and take independent charge of complex financial models
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Knowledge of lending legal documentation
