We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of SME Channel to join our growing Business Banking team in Sydney.

This senior leadership position is pivotal in driving the growth of our SME lending and deposit products, which are part of ING Australia’s 2032 Leap Strategy goals. You’ll be responsible for formulating and executing sales strategies, engaging with SME business brokers, and leading the Guided Sales team.

Our ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the SME sector, direct-to-client and broker channel experience, and the ability to innovate and grow new products.

What you’ll do

  • Partner with the Head of Business Banking to shape and execute our Business Banking vision.
  • Craft and drive sales strategies for lending and daily banking products, driving national engagement activities for growth.
  • Collaborate on marketing and event strategies for third-party distribution.
  • Streamline sales and credit processes, nurturing a high-performance team through training.
  • Establish and manage effective sales and credit processes and training
  • Mentor and grow our Sales Managers and Credit Assist team.
  • Work hand-in-hand with senior leaders to delight our brokers and customers, ensuring we meet all risk, compliance, audit, and quality standards.
  • Represent the bank with brokers, aggregators, and industry publications and events.
  • Cultivate a vibrant, high-performance learning environment.

What we’re looking for

  • Excellent understanding of broker industry, regulation and compliance
  • 10+ years in commercial sales management, strategy and leadership
  • 10+ years in financial services, preferably SME Lending
  • Proven ability to influence outcomes and build exceptional working relationships at all organisational levels
  • Thorough understanding of financial services industry and economic trends
  • Extensive commercial credit knowledge and competency with complex business structures
  • Effective management and building of B2B and B2C relationships
  • Solid influencing and interpersonal skills with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Commercial acumen with problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Outstanding coaching and leadership experience with the ability to motivate and lead a sales team
