Apply now

At ING, we believe in the power of fresh thinking and diverse perspectives. We’re committed to creating a banking experience that’s simple, empowering, and human—and we know that starts with exceptional people. That’s why we’re looking for a strategic, forward-thinking leader to help shape the future of retail banking in Australia.

Head of Strategy, Planning and Performance, Retail is more than a leadership role—it’s an opportunity to influence the direction of one of Australia’s most innovative banks. As a trusted advisor to the Head of Retail, you’ll play a central role in defining and executing our strategic agenda, driving transformation, and ensuring operational excellence across the Retail division.

You’ll lead the Business Management Office and work across all areas of the business—Product, Operations, Technology, Risk, and Finance—to align priorities, accelerate delivery, and ensure we’re always moving forward with purpose. Whether you’re crafting board-level communications, overseeing performance metrics, or guiding cross-functional initiatives, your work will directly impact how we serve our customers and grow our business.

What You’ll Do

  • Shape Strategy: Partner with the Head of Retail to define and deliver the strategic roadmap for ING’s Retail division, ensuring alignment with broader business goals.
  • Drive Execution: Lead the coordination and execution of high-impact initiatives across multiple teams, ensuring seamless delivery and measurable outcomes.
  • Enable Performance: Oversee business performance management, including the development of dashboards, KPIs, and insights to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead Governance: Manage executive communications, including board papers, leadership presentations, and the facilitation of key governance forums.
  • Support Financial Stewardship: Collaborate with Finance to manage budgets, forecasts, and resource prioritisation, ensuring cost-efficiency and value creation.
  • Inspire Teams: Foster a high-performance culture by coaching team members, promoting collaboration, and driving engagement across the Retail division.

What We’re Looking For

  • A strategic leader with 10+ years’ experience in business management, strategy, or transformation, ideally within a large, complex organisation.
  • Deep expertise in retail banking, with a strong grasp of customer experience, digital innovation, and regulatory environments.
  • Proven ability to influence at the executive level, navigate ambiguity, and lead cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to turn insights into action and drive measurable results.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience preparing board-level materials and facilitating executive forums.
  • A collaborative, adaptable mindset with a passion for coaching others, building high-performing teams, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

What’s in it for you?

  • Discounted ING Health Insurance
  • An additional Rest Day to support your wellbeing
  • An IMPACT day to volunteer on approved sustainability activity
