ING Australia is on the search for Security Detection and Response Lead who will be a key leadership role within the Security Team, responsible for strengthening the organization’s ability to detect and respond to security threats.

Reporting to the Head of Information Security, CISO this role ensures that security operations meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and effectively manage risk to support business objectives.


In addition to operational oversight, the role contributes to the strategic evolution of the security function, ensuring alignment with the broader technology roadmap and fostering a proactive, resilient security posture.

What you’ll do …

  • Strengthen and scale the engineering capabilities within the Security Team.

  • Drive delivery of the security portfolio while embedding agile methodologies.

  • Ensure team activities align with compliance standards and contribute to business value.

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery framework within the Security Centre of Excellence.

  • Champion Agile ways of working and collaborate with stakeholders to shape the strategic roadmap.

What we’re looking for…

  • Demonstrated leadership in managing high-performing security detection and response teams.

  • Deep expertise in security architecture, DevSecOps practices, and securing hybrid multi-cloud environments.

  • Proven ability to operate autonomously while effectively leading teams of technical specialists.

  • Hands-on experience in security event monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability management.

  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with system owners, developers, engineers, and project stakeholders.

  • Tertiary or advanced industry qualifications in security (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH).
