ING Australia’s finance division is looking to hire a Tax Consultant to join our tax team.

In this role you will work with the tax team to meet tax compliance obligations including income tax returns, FBT, GST, Activity Statements, PAYG instalments, payroll tax returns, AIIR and monitoring and remittance of PAYG withholding tax.

You will also help analyse GL tax sensitive accounts for various tax reporting purposes on a regular basis. You will reconcile GL tax accounts as well as prepare tax provisions on a quarterly basis including head office reports and relevant tax journals, reconciliations and left-hand notes, VTTC, compilation of transfer pricing documentation. There will also be preparation of responses to queries, request for information, reviews and audits conducted by Tax Authorities.

This role would suit a tax professional with 2/3 years+ experience at a professional services firm or another corporate company in Australia. Financial Services experience would be nice to have but is not a requirement for the role.

What you’ll do

  • Day to day compliance and tax reporting obligations of all ING entities in Australia and the associated trusts, including the preparation and review of tax calculations, reporting and payment of all taxation liabilities to internal business units and external tax and revenue authorities
  • Monthly preparation of various returns and lodgment with tax and revenue authorities including analysis of these
  • Preparation and processing of tax journals and monthly reconciliation of tax accounts, tax analysis of tax sensitive accounts for various tax reporting purposes and transfer pricing documentation including Country by Country Reporting
  • Assistance in provision of tax advice to various business units
  • Identify and implement tax processes and internal control improvements for operational effectiveness and effective management of tax risks

What we’re looking for

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ tax experience in professional firms or commerce, it is not a requirement but it would be beneficial to have financial services experience
  • Advanced understanding of accounting or tax discipline or related analytical role
  • Ability to research, interpret and apply legislations, case laws and ATO rulings to current issues/queries
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Word skills
  • Willing to adapt and learn in-house reporting systems
  • Demonstrated systems skills to proactively assist in transitioning to a new financial management system
