Role and responsibilities

As Senior Risk Manager, you’ll be instrumental in achieving this ambition. You’ll report directly to the Expert Lead Risk & Strategy and act as a trusted advisor across the organisation.

Your impact

This is not a back-office role. As a senior, you’ll take ownership, influence decisions, and guide teams through regulatory challenges while enabling growth. Your responsibilities include:

  • Lead risk & regulatory topics: Own and interpret complex regulatory requirements (e.g., MiFID II, SFDR, PRIIPS, MAR) and translate them into actionable guidance for product squads.
  • Be the bridge: Act as the primary contact for second-line functions (Legal, Compliance) and ensure alignment across teams.
  • Drive change: Participate in strategic projects, such as implementing European sustainability legislation, and contribute to ING’s vision for proactive risk management.
  • Build knowledge: Shape and share best practices, fostering a culture of compliance and innovation.

You’ll balance growth ambitions with regulatory obligations. Keeping ING’s investment proposition safe, transparent, and future-ready.

How to succeed?

We’re looking for a senior professional who combines expertise with initiative:

  • Proactive & self-starting: You don’t wait for instructions—you anticipate challenges and act.
  • Project management skills: Experience leading or contributing to complex projects in a regulated environment.
  • Deep regulatory knowledge: Strong understanding of investment-related regulations and risk frameworks.
  • Strategic thinking: Ability to simplify complexity, manage ambiguity, and influence stakeholders.
  • Collaborative mindset: Skilled at building relationships and driving results across diverse teams.
  • Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years in consulting or financial services. Fluent in Dutch and English.

You’ll have a responsible, visible position. Acting as the link between leadership and delivery teams. You’ll work in a dynamic environment where your expertise truly matters, and your proactive approach will shape the future of investing at ING.
