The Mission

We are looking for a Product Owner / Data Modeler with a strong passion for data and a solid understanding of both product ownership and data modelling in complex data environments.

You will be part of a multi‑disciplinary, cross‑border Agile team (Business Analysts, DevOps Engineers, Data Governance Officers, Data Quality Specialists), enabling the end‑to‑end flow of data from source systems to data consumers on a modern data lake and data mart architecture.

Your day to day

• Own and communicate the vision, roadmap, and objectives for data products and data marts
• Translate business strategy and stakeholder needs into clear, prioritized epics, features, and user stories
• Manage and continuously refine the product backlog, aligning priorities with business value, dependencies, and team capacity
• Execute the Global Data Definition process according to agreed principles and quality criteria in an Agile way of working
• Design, deliver, and maintain global and local business terms, conceptual, logical, and physical data models
• Analyze source systems (operational systems, local data warehouses, existing data products)
• Create, validate, and maintain functional and technical source‑to‑target mappings, ensuring traceability and consistency
• Support the squad during sprint planning, refinement, and delivery, ensuring clarity of scope and acceptance criteria
• Collaborate closely with engineers and analysts to ensure correct interpretation and usage of data models
• Monitor progress, communicate dependencies and impediments, and proactively manage risks
• Support adoption of delivered data products and data models across ING units, including coaching and knowledge sharing
• Contribute to improving data quality, standards, documentation, and ways of working across the data landscape

What you’ll bring to the team

Experience and Knowledge

• Experience combining Product Owner / Business Analyst responsibilities with hands‑on work in data‑driven environments
• Strong understanding of data management, data warehousing, and IT architecture
• Proven experience with entity‑relationship and/or dimensional data modelling
• Ability to interpret and explain complex data models in clear, business‑friendly language
• Experience defining business terms, data definitions, and end‑to‑end data requirements
• Solid SQL and database knowledge for data analysis, validation, and troubleshooting
• Experience working with multiple, heterogeneous data sources
• Comfortable working in Agile / squad setups and international teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Nice to have

• Experience working in financial institutions and regulated environments
• Knowledge of global data models (e.g. IBM BDW models or similar)
• Background as Senior Business Analyst, Data Modeler, Data Architect, Solution Designer, or Senior Database Developer
• Strong affinity with enterprise‑scale data platforms and data management organizations
