The Mission

Core Banking Domain is a Center of expertise for core banking (internally referred to as Accounts Engine/ AE) implementations in ING group. Through the delivery of our services, we are enabling the ING’s strategy to provide superior value for its customer by providing part of the stable and reliable tech foundation for scalability and digitalization. Our mission is to provide operational excellence and a high service quality by continually increasing our efficiency and enabling the seamless integration with the differentiation and innovation layers of the bank’s architecture.

Our domain is supported by around 150 engineers covering core banking implementations (Profile) for several ING units (Romania, Italy, Germany, Spain, Belgium, France, Czech Republic) and a dedicated product team. Together with Enterprise Architecture we are maintaining and executing the core banking strategy of ING.

The Platform Services are the backbone of the core-banking application, currently consisting of 3 sub-services that cover: IT Operations (RUN), IT Risk, LCM and onboarding projects.

IT Operations (RUN): provides 24/7 transversal operational support for all Profile 7 instances as-a-Service, based on standardized monitoring & alerting metrics and tools. The operations engineers provide support for both the internal development teams and the service consumers (ING countries). All the activities (requirements, changes or incidents) are logged through a ticketing application, with specific SLAs attached, guiding the prioritization.

IT Risk: maintains standard IT risk controls and security compliance, covered by a dedicated team within the area.

LCM and onboarding projects: onboarding of new clients on Core Banking applications, new infrastructure and lifecycle for platform application, databases and supporting tools.

As Product Manager for Platform Services, your responsibilities spread around the entire life cycle of the activities and tools covered by your product, starting from vision and strategy, defining the service roadmap to planning and overseeing the service delivery. You have end-to-end view on purpose and ultimately the realization of the work, making sure promises are kept, maximizing the value delivered to the customers, while adhering to legal, risk and compliance requirements of the bank.

Your Day-to-Day Activities

• Build excellent relationships with stakeholders, to properly understand the business vision and strategy, their detailed needs and establish realistic delivery and support objectives.
• Delivers customer-centric solutions. For example, uses customer feedback and data to drive continuous improvement; creates an environment in which team members feel a strong sense of ownership and accountability toward creating the best possible customer experience.
• Build own vision and roadmap, based on customer needs, technical improvements and domain long term strategy.
• Clearly articulate and document the product/concept definition and its value, elaborating pricing models and preparing the roadmap for product development & adoption. Share outcome with squads, stakeholders, identify & align dependencies, work closely with Solution/Domain Architects.
• Define product metrics and performance KPIs and use these product insights to make decisions and further improve the product/service.
• Align the priorities with the stakeholders and make sure they’re visible to the delivery team, as well.
• Ensure purpose and clarity for the squad, share vision, strategy and value (why).
• You are accountable for effective backlog management: create, prioritize and update the backlog, and make sure it is properly refined. Assist with the elaboration/refinement of the requirements to ensure they are granular enough for the squads to deliver within a sprint. 
• Organize all delivery and support activities to ensure the SLAs and KPIs agreed are met.
• Create short term forecasts based on squad performance / velocity.
• Continuously take initiative to improve the way of working (WoW) and the collaboration with / within your squad. You frequently align with the Agile Coach, Scrum master, Chapter Leads, the IT Area Leads and other Product Managers. 
• Drive the squad in an Agile environment. Attend Agile ceremonies, such as stand-up, sprint planning, review and retrospective, focusing on deadlines and goals of the product and product release plan; lead POCLAC meetings. 
• Offers feedback and aligns with the chapter leads for the appraisal of people in the squad. 

What you bring to the team

• Bachelor / Master’s degree (Business and/or Banking, Technical studies).
• At least 3-5 years of experience in a Product Manager role / Product Owner role, or DevOps lead Engineering role, preferable in an Agile environment.
• As a plus: prior experience in operations activities and maintaining critical banking applications which require 24/7 availability, building / delivering an IT Service or experience in a similar role, experience in managing product teams.
• Creative mindset.
• Product Management skills (spot the opportunity, product design, prototyping, market release, customer engagement, portfolio management, success metrics, pricing etc.).
• Willing to explore new ideas & initiatives.
• Familiar with Software Development Life Cycle and IT Processes (e.g. ITIL).
• Strong stakeholder management capability, communication skills, including presentation and reporting skills.
• Eagerness to learn and improve.
• Foreign languages: English (advanced)
