GCP Solution Architect in Pricing

Apply now

We are looking for an experienced GCP Solution Architect to enhance the design and implementation of cloud solutions on Google Cloud Platform. Your focus will be on optimizing infrastructure for performance, scalability, reliability, security, and operational efficiency—ensuring strong alignment between architecture, implementation, and business goals.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable, cloud-native architectures that follow best practices and support ING’s strategic objectives.

The team

The ING Pricing Architecture (IPA) platform supports real-time and batch calculations of financial risk metrics and simulations—such as XVA, PFE, Value at Risk, Expected Shortfall, Bilateral Margining, and pre-deal derivatives pricing. These capabilities are driven by evolving banking regulations and advanced risk analysis needs for ING’s global derivatives portfolio (interest rates, credit, FX).

IPA is a core platform for our global dealing rooms and risk managers across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. It is developed by 7–9 Agile teams located in Amsterdam, Brussels, Bucharest, and Singapore, working together to evolve the platform in line with ING’s Financial Markets IT vision.

Within IPA DARE, our goal is to deliver a fast, secure, and reliable Data, Analysis, and Reporting Environment (DARE)—primarily built on GCP. This platform serves both Front Office and Risk Management users, supporting intraday and end-of-day pricing, risk management, and position management in a unified system.

Roles and responsibilities

Even if you start your day in the comfort of your home or drink your morning coffee at our office cafeteria, your day will be quite similar when it comes to tasks. Here are your daily responsibilities:

  • You design and define GCP-based components and services, shaping the overall IT landscape and strategy.
  • You evaluate end-to-end processes for efficiency, identify risks, and drive continuous improvements across data ingestion, processing, reporting, and analytics.
  • You create clear architecture diagrams, documentation, and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences. You maintain accurate records of current and future-state processes and required changes.
  • You promote reuse by developing and maintaining automation patterns and cookbooks to maximize efficiency and consistency. You ensure alignment with ING tech standards and escalate deviations when needed.
  • You focus on high-performance solutions, large-scale data handling, and event-driven architectures.
  • You work closely with stakeholders, product managers, and engineering teams in an agile environment to translate business needs into scalable cloud architectures.
  • You ensure software solutions meet customer needs, are cost-effective, and comply with security and regulatory standards.
  • You provide technical leadership and mentorship to development and DevOps teams. You guide teams in adopting best practices and reusable solutions.
  • You keep up with GCP innovations, emerging technologies, and industry trends to inform architectural decisions.
  • You lead initiatives for cloud migration and modernization, including refactoring and rearchitecting legacy systems.
  • You collaborate with other platform teams and vendors to implement or upgrade systems and influence technical roadmaps.
  • You maintain deep knowledge of organizational policies and regulatory requirements, ensuring team adherence and addressing non-compliance when necessary.
  • You identify and propose cost-saving opportunities within the data platform.
