The Role

As Chapter Lead Web Front-End, you are instrumental in shaping ING Belgium’s digital customer experience. You lead a distributed team of front-end engineers and drive the adoption of modern web technologies to support ING’s digital sales and transformation goals. Your leadership ensures that platforms are robust, accessible, secure, and future-ready.

This role combines people leadership and engineering contribution. You manage a devops chapter of ~13 front-end engineers while staying hands-on in delivery, guiding technical direction, and raising the bar on engineering excellence.

You empower engineers to produce and maintain IT solutions that meet business needs, aligned with the IT strategy to support seamless and secure usage of our online channels resulting in a trusted team, backed by a motivated and skilled workforce.

What You’ll Do

People Leadership (~40%)

  • Lead, coach, and inspire ±13 engineers across Belgium, the Philippines, and India.

  • Drive career development, performance management, and continuous growth.

  • Recruit and onboard new talent, ensuring diversity and inclusion.

  • Build a culture of collaboration, psychological safety, and innovation.

Engineering & Delivery (~30%)

  • Contribute hands-on to engineering tasks (coding, reviewing, solution design).

  • Ensure delivery of accessible, secure, and high-performance solutions.

  • Develop and maintain key assets of the IT Area such as ing.be web platforms, supporting the digital sales ambitions with campaigns, calculators, and simulators, accelerate delivery across tribes  bymaintaining and improving flows builder platforms, and much more.

  • Apply expertise in modern web technologies, accessibility (WCAG), performance optimization,SEO,  web best practices, secure coding practices,...

Strategy & Alignment (~30%)

  • Define and continuously improve engineering standards.

  • Align with ING’s global technology guidelines and lifecycle processes.

  • Collaborate with Product Owners, UX, and Chapter Leads across domains.

  • Translate Business & IT strategies into impact.
