We started out in 2015 as ING’s software development hub, then steadily expanded our range to include more services and competencies. Now we provide borderless services with bank-wide capabilities and 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: 𝐁𝐮𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐣-𝐍𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐜𝐚.

The role of a Data Engineer is to combine knowledge of the IT domain with strong technical skills in data engineering.
The mission is to work as an experienced engineer in a squad whose goal is supporting Data Analysts, Data Scientists and Dashboards designers in ensuring the efficient development and optimization of data pipelines and infrastructure.
Your contributions will help in leveraging data engineering tools and techniques to reach our business objectives (boosting digital sales, making customer interactions even more personal, etc.

Your day to day

Even if you’ll start your day from the comfort of your home or drink your morning coffee in our office’s garden, your day will be quite similar when it comes to tasks. Here are your daily responsibilities:


1. Develop ETL flows using Azure Synapse Analytics and SQL procedures.
2. Integrate data from different source systems into Azure Data Warehouse.
3. Perform tests and validate all data flows, preparing ETL processes according to business
requirements.
4. Contribute to code versioning and deployment of changes using GitHub and Azure DevOps.
5. Understand the concepts and the business value of the data that is processed.
6. Understand the Logical Data Model and Physical Data Model. Develop data models for our Data
Warehouse.
7. Build and optimize data pipelines in Azure.
8. Monitor and maintain the data flows and features running in Azure Data Lake and other Azure
services (incident management and bug fixing).
9. Ensure compliance with IT Security/Risk standards, which are a key part of the risk management
process.
10. Help tune performance and ensure high availability of services.
11. Utilize Python/PySpark for writing notebooks and data processing tasks.
12. Apply knowledge of Terraform for infrastructure as code.
13. Leverage Power BI Service for data visualization and reporting.

What you’ll bring to the team

Experience:


1. You have a minimum of +3 years of experience in Data Engineering Area
2. In Banking industry is considered a plus


Ø Tech stack/ knowledge:


• Mandatory:
1. Strong experience with Data Warehousing and Data Modelling using SQL and ETL flows in Azure
Synapse Analytics
2. Experience and knowledge of services in Microsoft Azure, eg Data Lake, EventHubs, Stream
Analytics Jobs, Azure Databases
3. Hands-on experience in Data Engineering including build Data pipelines in Azure
4. Good understanding of CI/CD tools and experience of CI/CD configuration with GitHub and Azure
Dev/Ops
5. Python/Pyspark with focus on writing notebooks
6. Experience working within Continuous Delivery or Continuous Deployment processes
Knowledge of Terraform infrastructure as a code
7. Knowledge of Power BI Service
8. The strong foundational knowledge and ability to adapt to new technologies and paradigms that
are often found in development experts are considered more important than most missing nice to
haves in this list

Foreign languages: English (advanced)
Ø Education: nice to have bachelor’s degree (or higher) in an IT related field
