The Mission

The NFR Hubs Romania team is an integral part of ING’s Non-Financial Risk domain. The teamis responsible forensuring consistent implementation of NFR frameworks, policies, and procedures, while fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment within the hubs. 

TheEmerging TechNFR Expert is part of the Center of Expertise (CoE) Emerging and Disruptive Technology Risk, part of the CRO/NFR domain. The team focuses onidentifying, assessing, and managing risks and threats related to emerging and disruptive technologies, ensuring INGremainssecure,resilientand compliant in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

The role will report hierarchically to the Lead of Information & Technology Risk in Hubs Romania and functionally to Global Lead of ITR Team II located in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Your day to day

  • Proactivelycontributetotheidentificationand assessment ofemerging technologies for their risk impact onING;
  • Anticipate new and changing risks,adjustingand developing risk managementapproaches;

  • Analyze security events and incidents related to emerging technologies within ING and theindustry;

  • Develop andmaintainpolicies, ensuring alignment with external regulations.

  • Monitor and challenge the implementation of controls, processes, and remediationplans;

  • Performand contribute toindependentemergingrisk assessments and control effectivenessreviews;

  • Advisesenior management andguide1LoD on technology risks,regulatoryexpectationsand bestpractices;

  • Contribute to the challenging the definition and periodic reporting of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs);

  • Train and mentor junior team members and support NFR teams inthematicdeep-divesandoversightactivities;

  • Stay up to date with emerging threats, regulatory developments, and industry best practices.

Specific Tasks

  • Contributing tothe identification and assessment of risks from emerging technologies;

  • Overseeing the development and maintenance of riskframeworks,policies and controlsandensureregulatoryalignment;

  • Developing and performing independent risk assessments and control reviews;

  • Monitoring and challenging the implementation of risk controls and remediation plans;

  • Advisingsenior management and 1LoD on risk mitigation strategies;

  • Supporting NFR teams with deep-dives and reporting;

  • Supportjunior team members andsharingexpertise;

  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and industry bodies.

Whatyou'llbring to the team

  • University/Post Graduate(Master’s) Degree,egComputer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, orequivalent;

  • 7+ years’ experience in assessing, adopting, and managing emerging technologies and associatedrisks;

  • Goodunderstanding ofemergingtechnologies such as AI (GenAI, AgenticAI), Quantum Computing, Blockchain, Digital TrustFrameworks;

  • Expertisein security detection and response, vulnerability management, datacenter management, andnetworks;

  • Strong knowledge of relevant regulations (e.g., DORA, EBA,MARisk).
