Department Overview:

Broadway application helps ING to gain competitive advantage on the FX market: better client experience to increase revenue, improved hedging capabilities via custom designed algorithms, and improved access to liquidity to create better pricing models. The in-house built high-performance pricing systems and interfaces, together with the vendor-built trading/quoting systems, time-series databases and complex event processing engines are key platforms for the real-time low-latency landscape in scope of the growing Financial Markets domain.

Broadway main activity streams:

  • Trading: Pricing & hedging for external- and internal trades.

  • Sales: Request for Quotes and streaming prices to clients, and order execution.

  • Global Treasury: Service internal clients (Treasury desks and ING entities) for hedging liquidity & risk and/or funding.

Main Duties and Responsibilities of Role:

As an OPS Functional Engineer in the eFX Capability Team, you will excel in maintaining and enhancing in all aspects the Front-Office Broadway system. This will include analysis, design and test of code changes and close cooperation with the Product Owner and with the Developers to help resolve Production issues, as well as add new features for the system to address various business or regulatory requirements.

As part of a DevOps squad, you will work in a cross-border environment in an Agile/Scrum way, on the backlog prioritized by a Product Owner, business stakeholders and engineers from related teams (Vendor, Murex, Calypso, Regulatory).

The team consists of 7 OPS engineers at a global level (Amsterdam and Bucharest) with 3 of them based in London.

Delivery and Improvements:
30% Support:

  • You are responsible for Level 1 and 2 support of your system - resolving Incidents as they arise, in line with ING’s Incident Management processes. Out of hours support, on rotation basis, is a mandatory part of the role.

  •  You readily deal with incidents and requests raised by our FO users, and by downstream systems (Murex, Calypso, Orbit).

  • Performing Incident, Problem and Change Management, including writing user stories for resolving problems

  • You will contribute to discussions concerning opportunities for functional enhancements and operational incidents

70% Delivery and Improvements:

  • Design and develop new features from scratch and improve existing ones (testing automation, infrastructure/network topics)

  • You participate in business requirements analysis, translate them into functional/technical design, maintain and update the requirements if changes occur (requirement analysis).

  • You assist with functional testing for change requests and user stories.

  • Work on technical improvements and scripting (automation via Python, monitoring, setting up environments)

  • Provide hands-on support to colleagues when investigating production issues/outages.

  • Work in an agile environment, based on a lot of research, collaboration and "learn from failure" way of working, with highly impactful deliveries.

  • You support the product owner and the squad in managing the backlog by translating and prioritizing the epics into features and, together with the squad, into user stories.

  • Liaise with the vendor about environment updates and upgrades (release testing)

Candidate Profile

Experience/Knowledge

  • Experience: 5+ years of industry experience, preferably in Financial Markets -  FX Trading, eFX business

  • Tech stack/ knowledge:

    • Essential:

      • Experience as a OPS (BA) Engineer (or similar role DEVOPS) with implementing complex functional solutions with an external vendor

      • Banking/Financial Markets products/processes knowledge (FX Products)

      • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum framework

      • Comfortable using SQL, Python in your daily activities

      • Designing, testing, and deploying functional requirements

      • Experience with automated testing tools (using Python, Playwright, etc) and frameworks (including in-house testing frameworks);

      • Experience with the entire software lifecycle, from requirement analysis to system/feature delivery

  • Nice to have:

    • Hands-on knowledge of scripting (Python) or programming languages (Java)

    • Experience with automation/configuration management systems (such as Azure DevOps, YAML, etc)

    • Incident and backlog management systems, Service-Now, Azure DevOps

  • Personal Competencies:

  • Nice to have:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in, preferably, an IT related field
