Job description:

ING Bank NV – Milan Branch, is searching for a 6-months intern to work within the Wholesale Banking Corporate Sector Coverage team in Milan.

Corporate Sector Coverage (“CSC”) is a global team covering ING’s largest corporations across a variety of sectors, such as Industrial, Manufacturing, Food& Agri, Trasportation & Logistics, Services.

The intern will be responsible for supporting the senior originators in the team, in building and expanding the overall business relationship with designated Italian corporates, both prospects and existing. 

The intern will be working in a dynamic client-facing team of highly dedicated professionals which are part of a “virtual” platform with teams located worldwide, including Amsterdam. The role involves cooperation with internal departments such as Financial Markets, Capital Markets and Advisory, CSL Lending, Transaction Services, Compliance, etc.

Your key responsibilities

You will support multiple client & deal teams involved in transactions which have a large impact on our clients. You will work closely together with team members in Milan and other locations, and with various product specialists across ING. Your task will consist of supporting team members’ activities and will include:

  • Preparing relevant client reporting and perform Know Your Customer activities on our client’s portfolio.
  • Actively supporting deal generation, proactively contributing to the origination efforts of the team by driving sector analyses, presentations, and pitch books.
  • Safeguarding timely transaction delivery and high-quality and seamless transaction execution.
  • Maintaining active contacts with other departments/disciplines within ING, such as Corporate Finance, Loan Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets, Financial Markets, Transaction Services and Risk Management.
  • Financial modeling, credit analyses, client’s rating assessment and industry peers’, supporting the Lending team in the preparation of credit applications.
  • Assessing and reviewing due diligence on clients.
  • Portfolio management activities such as processing of credit reviews, waivers, and amendments.
  • Monitoring client’ portfolio profitability and KPIs.

We are looking for a young pro-active professional with a strong personal drive, ambition and international mindset. You have the ability to operate in a highly demanding environment, to deal with pressure and to perform under tight deadlines. You have a strong commercial drive and have excellent communication skills.

Personal profile:

  • Ambitious graduate student or post-graduate professional with outstanding academic track-record.
  • Prior internship and/or relevant financial experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of key financial markets and products.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Good interpersonal & communication skills, strong team player.
  • High level of drive, self-motivation and professional approach.
  • Strong project, time management & deal execution skills.
  • Fluent in English and Italian, both verbally and written.
