About the position:

We are seeking to recruit a mid-level Infrastructure sector banker with a growing network within the industry seeking a position within an established and successful team.  This person will be a self-starter and work closely with existing team members (app. 8 people including the Head), and with other execution/portfolio/agency teams within the organization.  The Infra team will be focused on generating wholesale banking business in the Americas (including Latin America). 

The role requires an experienced banker who can work with little supervision.  We are responsible for sector client coverage, leading debt financings for our clients which can often be structured and complex and coordinating all cross-sell efforts on other products. Prior Infrastructure PF sector experience, a good credit grounding, and a knowledge of other wholesale banking products is essential. 

About the department:

The Infrastructure Finance team within ING Wholesale Banking has the mandate to develop wholesale banking business for ING in this sector globally. The sector team is responsible for developing business with clients in this sector by providing wholesale banking solutions including financing, advisory services, financial market solutions, transaction services and other products & services to clients through its teams based in Asia Pacific, Europe and the Americas.  In the Americas region, the team is currently based in New York.

Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the Head of Infrastructure Finance Americas (based in NY)
  • Work independently and in coordination with the other team members in the group to assist in the generation of new infrastructure transactions in the Americas.  The Infra team and the other execution/portfolio management teams will prepare written and verbal credit analysis including financial modeling, assessment of management, collateral valuations, business trends and competitive positioning;
  • For more straightforward transactions, you will act as Deal Principal managing credit process from inception to financial close, including but not limited to the preparation of internal memos and credit approval packages, and support other more senior Deal Principals for complex transactions
  • For straightforward transactions, structure and execute assuming responsibility for all aspects of the deal including, but not limited to due diligence, preparation and negotiation of terms, obtaining final credit approval, and processing final documentation and financial close;
  • Actively engage with other departments (financial markets, Debt Capital Markets, Research as appropriate) to ensure proper coverage of all aspects of the transaction;
  • Actively manage portfolio transactions including annual reviews (as well as any other deliverables) for allocated portfolio of accounts;
  • Timely process amendments, waivers, etc. in accordance with ING policies and procedures;
  • Prepare client marketing presentations as well as internal presentations as needed;
  • Keep abreast of current market trends in the infrastructure market in the Americas
  • Develop mid-level network of peers in amongst clients/advisors/lending institutions in the market;
  • Assist in the development of junior entry level team members.

Qualifications and Competencies

A Bachelor’s (or Master's Degree) in Finance, Engineering, Accounting, Business, Economics, Mathematics, Planning or closely related field with emphasis on quantitative skills

Experience / Knowledge:

  • You are either an existing VP or a senior Associate ready to assume a VP role, with experience in either project finance and/or corporate finance, or infrastructure-related field;
  • You have an growing network of contacts in the infrastructure finance field amongst banks, non-bank lenders, advisors and sponsors
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • You will have proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint): strong excel skills and be able to operate financial models;
  • You have a comprehensive understanding of core financial documents (Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement and Balance Sheet);
  • Knowledge of industry and company dynamics in the Infrastructure project finance sector;
  • Proven understanding of Corporate and Investment Banking markets;
  • Previous credit analysis background.

Competencies:

  • You are reliable and inventive and have strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to build and retain long term client relationships with effective interpersonal skills;
  • Proven track record to complete assignments efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strategic thinker with can-do and creative mindset;
  • Strong communication and literacy skills.  Spanish always a plus but not essential;
  • You have demonstrated multi-tasking and analytical skills with a strong work ethic
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills along with a strong knowledge of statistics/mathematics.

Salary: $185,000-$240,000
