Senior Product Owner - Payments

Apply now

ING is a global bank with a strong digital-first mindset, helping millions of customers across more than 40 countries stay a step ahead in life and business. With a focus on simplicity, innovation, and customer experience, ING continues to redefine what great banking looks like.

As our Senior Product Owner – Payments, you’ll play a pivotal part in designing, optimising, and delivering customer journeys that are seamless, intuitive, and commercially impactful. Sitting within ING’s dynamic 1WoW organisation, you’ll collaborate closely with Product Owners, cross‑functional squads, and business leaders to bring to life payment experiences that help our customers stay a step ahead.

In this role, you’ll guide the development and performance of end‑to‑end payment journeys across both card acquisition and in‑life payment portfolio management. You’ll bring strong product ownership capability—setting priorities, defining strategy, and driving delivery to meet key squad and business KPIs. With your blend of product management, channel and process optimisation, and customer insight, you’ll champion a customer‑first approach while ensuring our payment experiences are efficient, compliant, and continuously improving.

This is a permanent role based in Sydney.

What you’ll do

  • Optimise and manage end‑to‑end customer journeys, acting as the voice of the customer and continuously improving value, experience, and overall satisfaction.
  • Own the design, development, and operation of payment products and customer value propositions to deliver differentiated experiences and strong commercial outcomes.
  • Monitor product performance, marketing effectiveness, pricing, and customer touchpoints, making adjustments to support customer satisfaction and financial targets.
  • Define business and product requirements, manage product risks, and lead enhancements that strengthen product quality, compliance, and operational performance.
  • Resolve issues and incidents, implement structural improvements, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce defects and deliver measurable customer and business benefits.
  • Shape and execute acquisition, in‑life, and engagement strategies, build business cases, respond to market and regulatory trends, and collaborate with stakeholders and vendors to ensure aligned priorities and strong delivery.

What we’re looking for

  • A background in banking or financial services, ideally with exposure to debit or payments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and effective communication skills.
  • Proven project management experience and the knowledge to drive initiatives from concept to delivery.
  • Excellent product management capability, the ability to balance customer needs with commercial outcomes and contribute to meaningful product improvements.
  • A strong understanding of payment strategy and experience designing seamless payment journeys that enhance engagement and drive front‑of‑wallet behaviour, including international remittances.
  • A proactive self‑starter with strong presentation skills, a passion for customer excellence, and a keen interest in market and competitor trends.

What’s in it for you?

  • Discounted ING Health Insurance
  • An additional Rest Day to support your wellbeing
  • An IMPACT day to volunteer on approved sustainability activity
