A day in the life of a Portfolio Implementator

• You construct and manage discretionary portfolios by translating the Investment Office strategy, model portfolios and instrument selection into individual client portfolios.
• You apply the defined level of personalisation within each client’s mandate, risk profile and investment restrictions, while maintaining consistency with ING’s investment strategy and portfolio-management framework.
• You monitor and rebalance portfolios, including asset-allocation deviations, cash positions, liquidity needs and mandate-specific constraints.
• You coordinate the timely and accurate implementation of investment decisions with the Investment Office, client-facing Portfolio Managers, Risk, Compliance and Operations.
• You analyse portfolio performance and performance attribution. You translate the results into a clear and personalised narrative for Portfolio Managers, explaining the main performance drivers in the context of each client’s portfolio, strategy and specific positioning.
• You contribute to improving the tools, data, processes and controls supporting consistent, efficient and scalable discretionary portfolio management.

As a Portfolio Implementator, you:

• Have a strong understanding of financial markets, multi-asset portfolio construction, asset allocation and discretionary portfolio management.
• Combine investment judgement with a disciplined and accurate approach to portfolio implementation, investment restrictions, risk limits and controls.
• Can analyse portfolio performance and attribution and explain complex investment outcomes in a concise, portfolio-specific and accessible manner.
• Work confidently with portfolio-management systems and data and actively contribute to improving their quality, reliability and scalability.
• Collaborate effectively with investment specialists, Portfolio Managers and operational and control functions.
• Take ownership, identify deviations or implementation risks and address or escalate them appropriately.

As a Portfolio Implementator, you will have the opportunity to:

• Work closely with experienced colleagues across Portfolio Management, the Investment Office and other specialist functions.

The team

You will join the broader Portfolio Management team within ING Private Banking & Wealth Management. The team is responsible for delivering ING’s investment proposition through discretionary and advisory portfolio management.

In this role, you will work closely with the Investment Office, client-facing Portfolio Managers, Trading, Risk, Compliance and Operations. Your focus will be on portfolio construction, disciplined investment implementation, performance analysis and narrative and the continuous improvement of the supporting portfolio-management framework.
