Financial Reporting Intern

ING Bank Italy is looking for a Financial Reporting Intern who will join the Financial Accounting department at our office in Milan.

You will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in accounting, financial reporting, reconciliation processes, and month-end closing activities within an international banking environment. You will support the team in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and completeness of financial information across Retail, Wholesale, and Leasing business lines, while contributing to process documentation, internal controls, and reporting activities.

You will contribute to:

• Supporting daily and monthly balance sheet reconciliations and accounting controls.

• Assisting with month-end closing activities, including accrual management, reporting updates, data collection, and stakeholder follow-up.

• Supporting the preparation and reconciliation of financial reporting data and uploads into Group reporting systems.

• Performing data extraction and analysis from accounting and reporting systems, including vendor, intercompany, and cost-related information.

• Supporting the monitoring and analysis of operating expenses, personnel costs, purchase orders, and marketing-related expenses.

• Assisting with accounting controls and reconciliations related to Leasing activities.

• Supporting financial reporting activities across Retail Banking, Wholesale Banking, and Leasing businesses.

• Supporting periodic SOX testing activities, including evidence collection, documentation, and control execution tracking.

• Supporting the collection, organization, and maintenance of documentation related to customer incentive initiatives and accounting assessments.

• Contributing to the drafting and updating of accounting procedures, operational manuals, and process documentation.

• Supporting periodic reporting activities and ad hoc analyses required by the Financial Reporting team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Management Engineering, or related disciplines.

• Strong interest in accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and financial processes.

• Good analytical and numerical skills.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

• Fluent in Italian and English.

• Ability to work accurately under recurring deadlines and manage multiple activities simultaneously.

• Previous academic or internship experience in Finance, Accounting, Auditing, or Controlling will be considered a plus.

• International exposure (e.g. Erasmus or study abroad experiences) will be considered a plus.


Location: Milan (hybrid)

Compensation: 1500€/month
