ING Retail Banking serves more than 40 million customers across 10 countries. The Global Retail organisation is end-to-end responsible for the three retail segments: Private Individuals (PI), Business Banking, and Private Banking & Wealth Management.

The team

You will be part of the Private Individuals Strategy support team, which directly supports the Global Head of Private Individuals in setting the strategy and priorities for the PI segment, and organise execution of these effectively and consistently across our retail markets.

This presents an unique opportunity to develop deep understanding of our Global Private Individuals business at its broadest, work on strategic projects to grow our insurance business and support delivery of the priorities identified in the Retail Strategy. You will work closely with the Head of Private Individuals, Retail Banking head-office teams, Global Product communities and Retail countries, and will report to the lead of the PI Strategy support team, who will also be your first sparring partner.

Role and responsibilities

  • Understand bank-insurance drivers as customer needs, value propositions, distribution channels, legal and competitive environments;
  • Translate strategic ambitions into a coherent, actionable bank‑insurance strategy with corresponding country execution plans.
  • Maintain a comprehensive overview of all Insurance Community projects, challenge priorities, and help shape the strategic plan.
  • Prepare high‑quality strategic presentations showcasing performance, insights, and ambitions.
  • Manage strategic projects covering multiple countries and/or functions, aligning interests of various stakeholders’;
  • Provide high quality, data-driven information to senior management to track execution and delivery on projects and drive informed decision making;
  • Act as a linking pin with various business units and central departments, to enable effective and consistent operations;
  • Benchmark and monitor the external Retail Banking, Insurance and particularly bank-insurance environment to attract attention to relevant trends and spot strategic opportunities;
  • Support in ongoing PI business management related activities and strengthen the way of working within the Global Retail organisation.

  • Deep understanding of insurance/bancassurance business, and solid knowledge of key Retail Banking trends and metrics;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to interact efficiently with senior stakeholders;
  • Strong data and analytical skills;
  • Ability to take responsibility, steer strategy and realisations based on facts and data;
  • Proactive, resourceful and willing to go the extra mile;
  • Strong resilience; ability to navigate through ambiguity;
  • Discretion and high level of confidentiality.

Personal Profile

  • Master’s degree;
  • Minimum 5 years experience in insurance/bancassurance or consulting, with a strong track record in insurance-related projects;
  • Sound experience in execution of strategic projects;
  • Excellent data driven problem solving skills and attention to detail;
  • Affinity with Excel and Powerpoint based work environment;
  • Flexibility and openness to occasional international travel to ING Retail markets;
  • Experience in preparing management information and presentations.
