Function title : Java Senior Software Engineer (Full‑Stack)

A day in the life of a Senior Software Engineer

Designing and delivering reliable, and high‑quality features across multiple business lines
Continuously improving the development lifecycle, from unit testing, code check-ins to peer reviews, static code analysis and automated test execution
Proactively maintaining and enhancing existing asset by identifying performance bottlenecks, quickly reproducing and resolving defects
Adapting to continuous change by learning, adopting, promoting new tools, technologies and standards

Bringing 5+ years of Java experience and strong knowledge of its ecosystem
Ability to work effectively in a challenging landscape with Java 17 on Linux, Spring, JPA, Drools, Web Services, MQ, and Oracle, and contributing to the migration toward the ING Web framework (REST, JavaScript, Lit‑HTML, Node.js)
Be familiar with common dev tools. For the backend: Git, Eclipse/IntelliJ, Maven, Postman/Bruno. For the Frontend: VS Code, Npm. For the CI/CD: Ansible, Azure Devops.
Applying software craftsmanship, writing clean, readable, and well‑tested code
Communicating clearly and proactively in English, sharing ideas and constructive feedback
Support and coach less experienced engineers, contributing to capability building and knowledge sharing within the chapter and squad (strong plus)

The team

As an IT Engineer within the Daily Banking Tribe, you will join the S.TAR Billing Squad, responsible for the TAR Billing engine used in Belgium. Working in an agile environment, you will help ING deliver high‑quality products to its customers. You will collaborate closely with fellow engineers, developers, and business stakeholders. We are looking for an enthusiastic engineer with a strong passion for IT, capable of bringing the different pieces together and making a tangible impact on upcoming deliveries.
