Data Protection & Compliance Expert

About the Role

We are looking for a Data Protection and Compliance Expert who will act as independent expert for 2nd Line / risk management in the area of Data Protection and Compliance. The Data Protection and Compliance Expert has the additional purpose of helping others in his or her area of expertise to succeed and to empower them to ensure the entity (i.e., ING Hubs Turkiye) supports the Bank to remain safe and secure.

You possess good communication skills, you can influence others –various stakeholders within own and functional organization, you can think critically and use data while collaborating with others. You are able to direct decisions and sustain change implemented in rapid pace. You have the ability to apply risk considerations to new processes, areas, technologies, and innovations.

In your role as Data Protection and Compliance Expert, you are focused on advising, monitoring, and challenging risks related to the individual/data subject arising from processing of personal data by ING. The Data Protection and Compliance Expert ensures quality on advice & challenge of each processing of personal data with local impact.

What You’ll Do

Data Protection responsibilities

• Provide GDPR advisory and challenge on personal‑data processing while ensuring alignment with GPDP/GDPP and local regulations.
• Manage data‑breach communications with the DPA and support awareness on data‑protection, ethics, and AI.
• Use DPO tools (DPIA, TIA, LIA) to oversee privacy risks, advise on proposed solutions, and contribute to privacy strategy.
• Act as the local SPOC for regulatory communication and stay updated on evolving privacy regulations to translate them into policy and risk actions.
• Train, guide, and support 1st Line teams on GDPR requirements and perform advisory and monitoring tasks in line with DPO responsibilities.

Regulatory Compliance responsibilities

• Implement ING’s Compliance Risk Framework and ensure local processes and controls align with relevant standards and policies.
• Assess the effectiveness of 1st Line controls, monitor compliance risk profiles, and report to local and global governance bodies.
• Support entity‑level risk‑appetite alignment, raise organization‑wide compliance awareness, and inform employees on compliance expectations.
• Execute monitoring activities, prepare reports, escalate issues when needed, and ensure adherence to laws, regulations, ING policies, and the Orange Code.

What You Bring:

• Advanced academic background with strong technical, regulatory, or management knowledge relevant to Data Protection and Compliance.
• Proven experience in Data Protection, audit, and/or risk management within the 1st or 2nd Line of Defence, with the ability to operate confidently in complex control environments.
• Ability to navigate and integrate diverse functions, including those with inherent conflicts of interest, while maintaining independence and sound judgment.
• Strong communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English, enabling clear advice and effective stakeholder engagement at all levels.
• Relevant professional certifications (e.g., privacy, compliance, audit, risk) are considered an advantage.
