Business/Data Analyst – Finance Business Advice

Your Work Environment
As a Business/Data Analyst you will join the Finance Business Advice Tribe within the Finance COO (COOF) organization. The Tribe plays a central role in translating complex business activity into high‑quality financial insights, enabling accurate steering, planning, and decision making across ING.
You will work in a cross‑functional Squad combining Finance expertise, Data Engineering and Reporting Engineering. The Squad operates fully in an Agile setup with high‑performing, self‑steering teams, each with a clear purpose and strong ownership.
You will be part of an international environment with frequent interaction with Finance Business Advice users and engineering teams across ING. Openness, collaboration, and a “can‑do” mindset are core characteristics of the team.

Job Description
As a Data Analyst within the Finance Business Advice/MI Squads, you contribute to the continuous improvement, standardization, and reliability of ING’s management‑decision reporting and analytics landscape. 
You act as the essential bridge between Finance users and Data/Reporting Engineers, ensuring that steering needs are consistently translated into actionable and high‑quality data solutions.

You will drive:


•    Translation of Finance Business Advice needs into clear analytical, data, and reporting requirements
•    Definition and validation of user stories, acceptance criteria, and backlog refinement items
•    Change and incremental improvements to the Standardized MI reporting landscape and underlying financial data models
•    Creation of efficient, finance‑aligned data flows and semantic models in cooperation with Data and Reporting Engineers
•    Building and refining Power BI dashboards used by Finance stakeholders and Front Office users
•    Embedding new analytical approaches and sharing knowledge across the Finance community
•    Performing structured data analysis to assess data quality, financial logic, and business meaning
•    Preparing concise analysis outputs enabling stakeholders to take decisions based on facts, trends, and operational‑financial insights

Who Are We Looking For?

We are looking for a strong team player who enjoys working in a cross‑functional environment and can quickly understand a complex financial and technical landscape. Someone who likes to connect business questions with data solutions and help a squad of highly skilled professionals deliver end‑to‑end outcomes.
You bring:
•    Bachelor or Master’s degree providing strong analytical and conceptual skills
•    6+ years of relevant experience in data, reporting, or finance analysis roles
•    Expertise in finance and management accounting (P&L, balance sheet, RWA, allocations, cost drivers)
•    Experience with Business Intelligence tooling and SQL
•    Strong knowledge of Power BI (data modelling, DAX, Power Query, dataflows) - must have
•    Experience with dimensional modelling (e.g. star schema, Kimball)
•    Affinity with data pipelines, ETL concepts, DWH layers (sources → staging → marts)
•    Ability to translate finance logic into data models and reporting structures
•    Strong analytical skills and a critical, fact‑based mindset
•    Hands‑on mentality when working with data
•    Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
•    A collaborative attitude and ability to work in a multicultural squad
•    Fluency in English (written and verbal)
