About Data School 2026

Are you passionate about data and interested in building a career in Data Management?

Join Data School 2026, a learning program designed to develop future Data Management Experts who can support ING data products across their full lifecycle.

The program is focused on building practical knowledge around ING’s Data Management Control Standards, also known as DMCS, and the capabilities needed to onboard and manage data products end to end. Participants will be introduced to several Data Management areas, including:

  • Data Quality

  • Data Governance

  • Data Protection

  • Data Definition

  • Data Lineage

  • Data Product onboarding

  • Data Management controls and compliance

  • Stakeholder management and collaboration

During school, participants will explore different Data Management capabilities and ways of working. Based on their strengths, interests, learning progress, and business needs, successful participants may continue their journey in one of the Data Management specializations.

The goal of the program is to prepare participants to understand, support, and coordinate the end-to-end DMCS onboarding journey for data products, while working closely with business, technology, risk, and data stakeholders.

Upon successful completion of the program and final selection process, participants may have the opportunity to join ING Hubs Romania as Data Management Experts within one of our Data Management teams.

What You Will Learn

Through a mix of theoretical sessions, practical exercises, case studies, and interaction with ING professionals, you will gain exposure to how data is managed in a complex banking environment.

The learning journey will help you understand:

  • How data products are identified, onboarded, and managed within ING

  • How DMCS controls support data quality, governance, protection, definition, and lineage

  • How to work with data owners, data users, technology teams, and control specialists

  • How to analyze data-related requirements and translate them into structured documentation

  • How to follow standards, ways of working, and control expectations

  • How to communicate clearly with multiple stakeholders in an international environment

Program Details

Here are the logistical details based on the current planning calendar:

  • The recruitment campaign 

  • You can apply until 22 September

  • The CV screening and selection phase

  • If your CV is selected, you will participate in the online testing phase 

  • Test evaluation 

  • If you pass the testing phase you will participate in an assessment group scheduled by us;

  • The group assessment phase 

  • The final decision 

  • Start School on 19 Octoberfor 6 Week - organized in 2 sessions/week 2 (Tuesday and Thursday) – 4 Hours / Day

  • Final selection

  • The hiring process 

  • The expected start date 

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for final-year students or a recent graduates (up to 3 years after completing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree) who are curious, motivated, and proactive and who want to build a career in Data Management. We are seeking students eager to learn how data products are managed in a large international banking environment.

Basic data knowledge

The following are considered an advantage, but they are not mandatory:

  • Basic understanding of databases and data structures

  • Familiarity with SQL or data analysis concepts

  • Exposure to business analysis, data quality, data governance, reporting, or documentation activities

  • Basic understanding of banking products, financial services, or regulatory context

Good logic and analytical skills

  • Strong logical reasoning abilities

  • Attention to facts and details

  • Interest and enthusiasm for working with data

  • Ability to break down complex problems and identify practical solutions

Communication and collaboration skills

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to explain ideas clearly and concisely

  • Comfortable working with different stakeholders and teams

  • Open to feedback and willing to learn from others

Proactive mindset

  • Willingness to ask questions and clarify expectations

  • Comfortable expressing ideas and opinions in team settings

  • Ability to take ownership of assigned activities

  • Team-oriented approach and collaborative attitude

Stakeholder management potential

  • Ability to listen, understand different perspectives, and contribute to alignment

  • Confidence to support discussions with business, technology, risk, and data stakeholders

  • Interest in understanding how data supports business outcomes and regulatory expectations

Good English skills

  • Good spoken and written English

  • Ability to communicate clearly in an international environment

  • Ability to explain data-related topics in a structured and understandable way
