The Team
The Macro Research team is part of ING’s Global Research department and focuses on analysing and forecasting developments in the European and global economy. The team produces insights on key macroeconomic themes such as growth, inflation, labour markets and monetary policy, contributing to both internal decision-making and external client publications.
The team works closely with colleagues across Financial Markets, sector research teams and economists globally to deliver timely and relevant macroeconomic insights.

Role & Responsibilities
As an intern, you will support the macro team in delivering high-quality economic analysis and contributing to the team’s forecasting and research output. You will work closely with economists on a variety of topics covering the Eurozone economy, gaining hands-on experience in applied macroeconomic research.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting economists with macroeconomic analysis and research notes
  • Working with large macroeconomic datasets and helping to structure and clean data
  • Supporting the development of quantitative models and forecasting tools
  • Contributing to ad-hoc research requests and team projects

Teamwork and collaboration are key in the Macro Research team. You will work in a dynamic environment where economic developments can shift quickly, requiring flexibility and curiosity

How to succeed

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master student in Economics, Econometrics or related field
  • Have familiarity with data analysis tools (Excel required; Python/R/EViews/STATA a plus) and AI working methods
  • Curious and eager to learn about (European) macroeconomic dynamics
  • Strong in analytical and quantitative thinking
  • Detail-oriented and structured in their work
  • Team players with strong collaboration skills
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)
